About

I am Federico Sorcini, a Doctoral candidate in the department of Psychology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Chmpaign, specializing in visual attention research. My academic background spans psychology, neuroscience, and computer science, with a strong focus on how humans process visual information. My current research investigates the mechanisms of visual search, and how our attentional system is both guided by stimuli in our visual field as well as what we're looking for!
Previously, I completed a post-baccalaureate program in computer science at Tufts University, which has strengthened my computational approach to cognitive neuroscience.  Next year I will be starting my Ph.D. in Psychology (not sure exactly where yet)!
Beyond my research, I have experience in designing and implementing computational models, including CNN-based architectures and visual search models in C++ and Python. I am also passionate about experimental design, eye-tracking methodologies, and statistical analysis of human behavioral data.

I love photography, cooking new recipes, talking soccer, hiking, skiing, and doing puzzles!
This website serves as a space to document my academic journey, including my research, publications, and projects. Here, you can find information about my ongoing work, my teaching philosophy, and reflections on my experiences in the field.
Feel free to reach out if you’re interested in collaborating or discussing research in visual attention, cognitive neuroscience, or computational modeling!
